The following entries were taken from "Knights of Edward I.", Vol. I, a copy of which is in the library at the Society of Genealogists in London. They were copied by Eardley Bryan on 6th May, 1991.

their d. Maud, w. of Geoffry de Camvile, being heir to said Henry, 21 Aug. 1274 (Cart.R.). Protection, going to Wales for K.., 24 Jan. 1277 (P.R.). Sumd. to serve agst. Welsh 1 Jy. 1277, and 1282 (P.W.). Having served with K. in Walses 10 Ed. I, has his scutage in Devon 5 Jan. 1286 (S.R.). Owes œ60 to Exors. of Maurice le Bright of Ireland Nov 1286 (C.R.). Sumd. to Council at Gloucester 15 Jy. 1287, and at Rochester 8 Sep 1297, and to serve agst. Scots 1298 and 1301 (P.W.). Holds 2 Kt. Fees, val. œ20, at Slapton, Devon, 8 Jy. 1292 (C.R.). Dead 6 Jy. 1307, holding many lands in Camarthen and Pembroke, Slapton Manor, Devon, and rents at Nymyd St. George, Kylmeton, and Lyw, with Toriton Manor, some of these held jointly with his w. Sibyl, by enfeoeement of Walter de Sully. They left s. h. Guy 23. His mother Joan, wid. of his f. Guy de Bryan, has one-third of the Camarthen lands in dower (Inq.). Livery to his s. h. Guy 16 Oct. 1307 (F.R.).BRIAN, Guy de. Aged 23, s. h. of Guy and Sibyl de B., 6 Jy. 1397 (Inq.). A lord of Nympton St. George, Neweton, Rocumb, Northaller, Scheftrugg, Inwok, and Slapton, Devon, 1316 (P.W.). K's yeoman. Made Custos of St. Briavel's Cas. and Dean Forest 17 Oct. 1335 (F.R.). Qualified for Kthood.
BRIAN, Sr. Roger, Kt. (Brien, Bryan). Exor. of Ralph de Haunvill 25 June 1281 (C.R.). Lic. for him to alienate lands and 100/- rent in Herts. to a chaplain at Buntingford 21 Ap. 1292 (P.R.). Assessor,
etc., of subsidy, Herts., 4 Dec. 1295. Justice for gaol delivery, Hertford, 1297 (P.R.). Kt. of Shire, Herts., 1295 and 1297, Beds. 1302 (P.W.). Sumd. to Council at Rochester 8 Sep. 1297, and from
Beds., Bucks., Ess., and Herts., to serve agst. Scots 1301 (P.W.). Comr. in Ess., Cambs., Herts., Hunts., Midx., and Beds., 1298 and later (P.R.).BRYANE, Sr. William de, Kt. De gulez ou iiii Bousses d'argent (Falkirk). Wm. Bryan, jun was hanged for felony more than a year before 9 Dec. 1296, and his lands at Steeple Bumpstead, Ess.,
confiscated (C.R.). Possibly a son of the Kt. who fought at Falkirk 1298.BRIENNE, John de, K. of Jerusalem. 1. Scutum ejus primum: Az. a fish erect in pale arg. 2. Jerusalem: Or. A cross bet. 14 smaller crosses arg. (M. Paris I). Younger s. of Erard II, Count of Brienne. He married (1) Marie de Montferrat, Q. of Jerusalem, and became K. of Jerusalem 1210, and Emporer of Constantinople 1231. By his 2nd w. Berengaria, d. of Alonzo IX, K. of Castile, he had Alphonso, Count of Eu, Jean D'Acre, Grand Butler of France (whose d. Blanche married Wm. Baron de Fiennes), Loius de Brienne, and marie, w. of Baldwin de Courtenay, Emperor of Constantinople. Of these, Loius de Brienne was f. of Henry de Beaumont, E. of Buchan, etc., Louis de Beaumont, Bp. of Durham, and Isabel, w. of Jn. de Vesci. Henry de Beaumont was direct ancestor of Beaumont of Cole orton, Barts. (Dict. de la Noblesse, iv, 125, etc.).
